DIY Almond Milk and Nuts & Grains Smoothie with Vitamix and GreenBlender
in Recipes
It’s no secret that I have a minor obsession with my Vitamix high-speed blender.
She’s red, she’s shiny, and she can turbo blend creamy winter squash soups, thick and vegetable-filled smoothies, sauces, salad dressings, nut milk, nut butter, hummus, coconut cream, banana bread batter, turmeric lattes, nut and date balls, bulletproof coffee, and quite literally anything else in mere seconds.
Prominently perched on my kitchen countertop, my Vitamix is used daily – if not multiple times per day. With this one kitchen tool, there is no need for any other kind of appliance – whatever, food processor. Trust me when I say that this kitchen appliance will transform your cooking and even take charge of your health.
For example, there’s no need to purchase sugar and additive-filled almond milk at the grocery store when you can make it in your own kitchen with two ingredients: almonds and water. Throw in a pinch of sea salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg, plus a splash of maple syrup, and you’ve created divine almond milk worthy of your morning coffee.
I’m pretty convinced that everyone needs this high-speed beauty in his or her kitchen – an investment that simply keeps on giving. If you’ve been looking to purchase a high-speed Vitamix blender, I have the perfect reason why you should snag one ASAP.
For the month of February, Vitamix teamed up with GreenBlender, a smoothie delivery service that sends pre-portioned ingredients, on a delicious deal. For a limited time, purchase a qualifying high-speed blender and you’ll receive a free Vitamix Starter kit from GreenBlender with five pre-portioned popular Vitamix recipes – valued at $49 (!!!)
These delicious recipes include a delicious homemade hummus, two smoothies, carrot apple and ginger juice, and DIY almond milk – yum.
The ingredients come in a refrigerated box and are all pre-portioned, meaning you won’t need to measure or scour the grocery store for anything. You’ll love how deliciously simple it is to make creamy homemade hummus and sweet smoothies in mere seconds. Plus, make fresh juice and almond milk too – life changing.
My favorite recipe from GreenBlender’s kit is the Nuts & Grains smoothie made with homemade almond milk, rolled oats, peanut butter, banana, and honey – it makes the perfect morning breakfast or afternoon snack.
Find the recipes for GreenBlender’s homemade DIY almond milk and Nuts & Grains Smoothie below; two super simple and nourishing recipes that you’ll love – I promise.
DIY Almond Milk
2/3 cup raw almonds, soaked overnight in water
2 cups water
Place the soaked almonds and water into Vitamix. Turn the dial to one and slowly increase the speed until ten. Blend on highest speed for 1-2 minutes, or until almonds have completely pulverized and mixture is frothy.
Place nut milk bag over a clean jar and pour almond milk through to strain. Use your hands to squeeze out extra milk from pulp.
Store almond milk in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week! Tip: Save one cup for adding to the Nuts & Grains Smoothie!

1 banana
1 Tbsp peanut butter
1 tsp honey

Wonderful blog! I found it while browsing on Yahoo News. Do you have any suggestions on how to get listed in Yahoo News? I’ve been trying for a while but I never seem to get there! Many thanks
